Over the weekend my son and husband did a sterling job of putting in a path that was started about 7 years ago round the greenhouse and front of the house but only recently has the final route of it been clear.
While they were doing this my daughter, with three friends, and I, with two of their parents, undertook these Scout's Expedition Challenge badge by cycling 40 miles over two days with a stop off in an Youth Hostel. It was great fun and the weather was kind to us. However, what I will take away from it was a passing comment by one of the other adults that he does all his short journeys by bike because it is so much quicker. It didn't resonate at the time but this morning as I am waiting for a delivery I had half an hour to use so I jumped on my bike and popped into town to pick up a few things we needed. Normally, I would have frittered the time away and felt frustrated. Instead I feel chuffed and have squeezed a bit more exercise into the day. Great.
