We have had lots of sun and now a little rain, the result is lots of green growth. Food plants are growing well, we have loads of kale, salads and herbs. We have a few annual flowers such as petunias adding colour though sadly they are still silent the bees don't arrive till next week.
Soft fruit is starting to come on, tomatoes in the green house, black currants and raspberries. We also have a few globe artichokes swelling.
Along side all of this we have seen the weeds go wild needing us to pop out between showers to pull weeds as we can. I am sure they grow overnight! This years slug and snail population is down a little on last years so their damage is reduced.
The other surprising success I grafted 10 crab apple sicons from a beautiful but old crab apple. I thought none had taken however when my husband went to check them one had taken:) I felt so chuffed. Fingers crossed it will survive.
