It is over a month since I blogged. We have been working away in the house and garden. The bathroom has now had it's ceiling finished and we have had the floor laid. The floor gave us some headaches. Partly our main hub of heating pipes run under the bathroom so we need potential access. So did we go for tiles, cushion floor, marmoleum or carpet tiles. Carpet tiles are hard to keep clean in a bathroom, especially with animals, tiles are cold unless you have under floor heating and we aren't going there and we didn't find a marmoleum tile we liked. We ended up with cushion floor, held down with a tack type of glue so it can be lifted if need be at a later date.
We have also now it is August, started cutting the hedges. This is a big task which has to be done in bite size pieces.
We are harvesting from the garden, soft fruit and veg. Our back garden is usually kept weed free bar thistles and nettles, by the crooks. This year however, natural selection has taken over and weeds that the chooks don't like are taking over. I have resorted to borrowing my dad's weed wand which chars them to keep them down.
Talking of chooks we have rehomed telex battery hens from a neighbour who is moving and can't take them with her. We are gradually introducing them to the established flock.
We have also been offered a complete 10x8 greenhouse which we would need to dismantle but would be very useful, some hard talking and thinking needed for that.
