We were planning to go away on holiday this weekend as it is our children's September weekend. Unfortunately, the first autumn/winter storm decided to hit this weekend bringing winds of 50+ mph in Glencoe, our destination. In view of this we decided to stay at home.
The kids have had friends over for sleep overs pottered around, eaten nice food and watched films, very pleasant.
We are now at the time of year when we are starting to think about putting the heating on. Last week we changed all the downies for winter downies as the house is cooling at night. Now first thing in the morning it feels cool getting out of bed but soon becomes fine. The house warms well through the day but then cools off in an evening.
We have had new hatches cut in the hall and dining room floors so I can get these floors insulated this month. That is the last of the floors that we can currently insulate so we have decided to have the house thermally imaged to see if there are any areas where the heat is leaking out. At the same time we will have the air tightness of the building assessed. It is a minimal extre cost and will tell us if there are any really big gaps. It will be interesting to see what my next jobs will be.
