It has been great to have a hot shower that stays hot all the time, our old gas combi used to give a variable temperature because of the length of the pipe runs from boiler to shower. Lovely.
Then on Friday the three Home Renewable Advisors from the South West Scotland's Energy Saving Scotland Advice Centre came to see what we had done. We were fortunate to get a grant and interest free loan from them to go with our Future Friendly Award to fund the solar panels and we got a loan to cover help fund the pellet boiler. It was great to talk through what we had done in the last year since our original Home Energy Report was compiled. They asked some good questions which has left me with research to do. One suggestion was to split the solar panel energy production on our SOLAR ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION page into two to make the figures more relevant. This I will do. The page is under REDUCE and ELECTRICITY.
On Saturday something happened that I see as a real change in the way we use our resources. A friend came over with the kid's christmas presents and one of the presents was an recycled gift that had not been age appropriate for it's recipient. BRILLIANT. Ten years ago that would never have happened, well not openly. I suspect that this has gone on in the past but it has not been acceptable to admit it. Now it is OK and I think that is how it should be.
A final suggestion I received this week, was to move the blog tab beside the home tab to make it easier to find. This I have sorted.
