Another busy week. Our happy buck rabbit developed a single sticky eye on Wednesday which by Thursday had progressed to full blown myxomatosis so he had to be euthanased. This left us without an unrelated buck, I assume some of the kits are bucks but we can't breed them with their mum! So we contacted the breeder who was going to sell us the doe and asked if she had a buck. She did but understandably was concerned about his safety as he is unimmunised. He will be kept indoors until fully immunised.
The new chickens (Light Sussex) have had a hard week. The incumbent chicken has been very clear about who is boss. So we now are letting her out with the other flock of three egg laying chickens, which she isn't delighted about but gives the Light Sussex chance to rest and feed. We put her back in with them at night, as I believe dominance tends not to be such as issue at night. So far no damage and all look healthy.
The final issue exercising me this week has been our final window to be replaced. It part fills a deficit in the wall 2.3 m wide by 2.48m high. The lower part is filled with an uninsulated wall. I calculate it looses about 1/8 of our heating annually. We are at the quotes and specification stage, I will write it up for information.
