This rug, unsurprisingly, is thicker than the old one. Our porch door wouldn't go over it so we had to get the joiner to come and shave a bit off the bottom. The hidden advantage to this is that I can now get the draught excluder to fit under it! I have put a picture and some blurb under REUSE and CARPETS.
The rest of the week was less glamourous, I am still working under the floors removing old copper piping, insulating the heating pipes and then insulating the floor. The first day of the kids holiday we were all at it and got a load of work done. That has however sickened us so we are taking the rest of the holiday off!
While working on the insulation last week I had a visit from Meg Beresford who runs Wiston Lodge - see links. She is a real expert in sustainable living and so it felt like the novice talking to the expert but lovely to go round and look at what we are doing through somebody else's eyes.
On the food growing front I did manage to get the potatoes chitting this week, mainly because the Setterkept running off with them and I had visions of him eating them!
