With all the talk and consideration of electronic games and equipment I was brought up short by a casual comment from my daughter this week. One of the children in her year does not have a television at home, I believe they get teased about this. Peer pressure is a big consideration for all our children. It is a hard path to walk.
At home I haven't started my New Year under the floors - I hurt my back digging in the garden! Little has been done outside. I have been looking into the level of insulation in the house. Our loft with 54cm of insulation is considered well insulation. The floors with 20cm and floor coverings will also fall into that category. The walls despite cavty wall insulation fall far below standard. To put external insulation on looks like it would take over 100years to pay back and while I am not in this to save money there is often a link between saving money and saving CO2. I'll keep looking. Our windows vary from moderate to good bar one which we know needs dealt with. I have felt for a long time that using thermal imaging to check where our heat loss is may be a more cost effective option. Time will tell.
