This then raises the issue of how much time to spend in front a screen? There seem to be two camps one that kids brain development is changed by exposure to electronic input ( scientifically shown but is this good or bad? does it prepare them with skills for adult hood or rot their brains? ) and on the other hand let them have time on electronic games as it keeps them occupied. Guess what we go for a compromise. Both kids have household tasks to do through the week, if these are done well and spontaneously then time is gained on electronic games, this is a sliding scale. This does take input from adults, but the kids get to negociate their terms and know where they stand.
Hopefully over the next few days I will get 2012s carbon figures calculated and published. I think we did better than last year, but some of that is that we used gas central heating for 3 weeks of 2011, which virtually doubled our gas use for the year!
Our best wishes for 2013.
