I returned home on the Sunday and set off early on the Monday for Cairnryan to sail to Larne and on to southern Ireland. We had a fantastic time, lovely food, great walks along wonderful beaches, swimming with a wild Dolphin, sea fishing and much more. It was amazing.
This week we are back to normality. I have started cutting the deciduous hedges and shredding them. The weeds have grown rapidly while we have been away so there is a lot to clear. The bees are all very active though only one of the four hives has brood in it. I am hoping this is because the queens haven't mated yet but I am concerned that they have lost their queens.
While I am on holiday I get the chance to read, more than usual. This holiday was no different but it was a bit coals to Newcastle. I read a book "How bad are my bananas" by Mike Berners-Lee looking at carbon footprints of everything. It was interesting to see how wrong we can be about what is good and what isn't, plastic verses paper bags being one example. A worthwhile read.
