We are now well into the school year and routine. The spare room is draft proofed, new underlay down and the carpet replaced. Amazingly the door didn't need raised - just shows what a gap there was beneath the door before!
The tiles in the shower are slowly being removed in preparation for replacement. This shower is right beside the hot water tank but we have never been able to use as the grout on the tiles had degraded so much it was no longer waterproof. Hopefully we will get this put back together week after next.
Our inner porch door at the back has been needing replaced for long enough. It is drafty. We were given a turn of last centuary 4 panel door 2 years ago, have had it stripped and then it has sat in the garage. I now have it out, sanded and started varnishing it in preparation to have it hung.
The garden is doing well. The garlic I have complained about all year I started to lift, not expecting much but to clear the ground. When I started I found huge bulbs with many teeth, wonderful.
The plum tree is weighed down with fruit which I am picking every few days as it ripens. We use them to eat, make jam, wine and a ketchup very like Spicy HP sauce. we continue to lift potatoes, and have peas, courgettes, lettuce to eat with the stored onions.
Transport wise we have sold our experimental old Range Rover and I am more and more using the bike for shopping. We are driving more in an evening for the kids clubs but hopefully we will be able to arrange car share in due course.
