This week has been high speed with little time at home. Friday saw me at the federation of city farms and community gardens AGM. It was at the Scottish Natural Heritage offices near Perth. What a fantastic place to work. The speakers were excellent and informative and the session after lunch covered creating a Community Garden, then a look at Bridgeend Allotments in Edinburgh and finally a look at a forest garden. I then had a weekend of tidying and clearing the garage to put away bikes etc and create space for the car.
Sunday saw us play host to two guests as part of the Greenhomes network run by the EST. They came to look at the wood pellet boiler, but the conversation covered many interesting topics.
Sunday we took the Series III landrover to the garage to have some work done on it. Sadly, we found out on Tuesday that it's chassis needs some work done on it which probably means the end of it's working days with us.
Lastly, today, Wednesday , I was at a conference on sustainable transport run by the Health and Environment Network. Very interesting and useful. I will post my synopsis on the Polbeth and West Calder Community Garden website.
In between, I have been cutting hedges and throwing out stuff. I know I am a convert but what a difference. I had no concerns about our guests coming in on Sunday to see the dogs and didn't even apologise about the state of the place coz I didn't need to!
