This is the final week of the Scottish school holidays so there has been a focus on school uniforms and shoes. We have also been weeding beds and planting autumn veg such as fennel, a type of sprouting broccoli - cima di rapa and winter lettuces.
This week we have been eating tomatoes, lettuce, potatoes - a poor crop but some.
Sadly for me it is also time to restart the underfloor insulation. I hate enclosed spaces, comes from being caught in a lift in an earthuake as a kid. However, I am the right size to do the job so I get to do it. The latest section I had thought would be straight forward as there are no heating pipes to deal with. However, there are water and sewage pipes which make a small space smaller, and once these pipes are lagged then the space is impossible to move it so it is a slow tricky job. I really hope we see our heating demand drop with this, especially with the heating price rises that seem to be doing the rounds at present.
We have also been out on our bikes as much as we can - sadly the school shopping trip was by car as it was raining so heavily! Hopefully more cycling and walking this week with the kids back at school.
