I have also been foraging, for brambles and elderberries. The brambles we tend just to eat, I rarely pick enough to do much else other than add to an apple crumble. The elderberries go to making wine. I use the same recipe as I do for all my red wines, I've put it in the recipe section. Talking of wine I bottled the demi johns of wine I made in August. These were blackcurrant and raspberry, rhubarb is still to do.
I planted pak choi, mizuna and chinese mustard this week. Not sure if it will grow this late, the weather is still warm enough so we can wait and see. The broad beans I planted a couple of weeks ago are coming up, so let's hope that gives an earlier crop next year.
Finally we have confirmation of a connection date for the PV solar of the 4th of Novemeber. No itemised bill for the £734.66 connection charge, but we are working on that.
The project wobbled a bit this week. I was having friends round for dinner. Starters was home made minestrone soup with tear and share bread, followed by roast chicken, baked potatoes and salad with pineapple ( from our fruit box) upside down cake and icecream. All was home grown/ made bar the icecream. I did well till I went to buy the icecream - I ran out of time to make it - so I bought three types and then bought a huge box of Thorntons chocolates to go with coffee! I don't even like chocolate. What is worse I then forgot to hand them out. May be I will keep them for Christmas.
On Wednesday I got a phonecall from our pellet boiler installers, they were passing through and wanted to pop in and finalise a few things. A good 15 - 20 minutes discussion and some bits and pieces to tidy up before the installation at the end of November.
