Our project of eating out of the garden is progressing. We have been eating beans, peas, salad, onions, courgettes, plums, potatoes and chicken.
I have been trialling Sourdough bread. A big problem I have is that there is no where in the house that is at 27C, other than the conservatory which can reach 40C! The ideal temperature I believe for prooving the bread . However, I had read of someone using a clean garden propagator to do this. I tried it this week, the temperature in the propagator, with the lid on was 28C, so ideal and the bread rose nicely. I'm not sure I've got the flavour right yet. I also find Sourdough bread is fine if you are making a loaf every day or so, but my starter doen't do so well when there is a bigger gap. Has anyone any answer to this?
Solar panels wise, we submitted the correct form to our Network supplier (who owns the electricity cables to our house), they had sent us the wrong ones for us to submit at the end of June! Building Control needed more extensive plans, these have been drawn up and accepted so that is looking OK.
We are also now setting off the process of having a wood pellet boiler installed, we have had the quotes sitting quite some time, but needed to wait to see what will happen with the government's Renewable Heat Incentive. However, we feel that once we get the Feed-in-Tarrif from the solar panels we can fund the boiler. So we have approached Planning and Building Control.
