We renewed our registration with the mail preference society, keeping the amount of addressed junk mail to a minimum. We have also contacted the Royal Mail to stop unaddressed mail being put through the door. This will cut down our paper recycling.
Our Christmas tree lasted 5 weeks from the start of Advent to Twelfth Night with little needle drop. However, tying it back up to return to the shop for recycling it lost loads. These nicely clog up the hoover so it was down on hands and knees to brush the majority up.
Then on to recycle our Christmas cards with the Woodland Trust - outside our local Marks and Spencers. Though with the pre-Christmas mail disruption we are still getting cards. The schools recycle cards till the end of the month so I will hold on to these and enjoy them for a little bit longer.
Our pile of uncut logs has now got down to the ones that cannot be cut by hand and will need to be chainsawed. We started looking at the options and then were struck by the realisation that it would be cheaper, more efficient and ecological to hire one for a weekend and get on and get it all cut and stacked. All we need to wait for is some dry weather - ? June may be!
With clearing out the garage the second hand beehives that we bought last May were pulled out. They needed cleaned, sanded and painted. I have added a page under bees on how we cleaned up the boxes to prevent any possible spread of infection.
