Everyone is back at school and work, which always leaves an empty feel to the house. However, it has given me chance to plant out my peas, plant chard and nasturtiums outside and basil, beans, more peppers- I have had no luck at all with them this year - and flowers for my daughter. She has potted up dahlia bulbs and my son has planted lupins and dalias. I have planted marigolds for my dad - and the spare will be for us to eat!
I have also put in nicotinia and primulas that I had planted late last year and early this year so hopefully they will keep the weeds down and look pretty later this year and next spring.
We were given some raspberry canes and loads of strawberry plants on Sunday so I took the lot up to the allotment on Monday and put them in. It does give us one more raspberry/strawberry bed than we had planned but both fruits are so flexible we don't see that as a problem.
I have been picking wild garlic this week - from the garden. They self-set years ago and were left as they look so beautiful and have a great smell if you like garlic. Thus they have spread. I was going to buy onions for risotto this week when I decided to use them instead. They were lovely. I have also been using rhubarb and salsify.
We also got the front long polyglass house finished - see under reuse and greenhouses.
So all in all a great week. I hope you had a good one too.
