Once emptied I lifted the floors, removed all the redundant copper pipe work, insulated or re-insulated the heating and water pipes, insulated between the joists and then laid a new floor. One sentence but several weeks work. It should however save us over 1000 kWh per year in heating, and make the room feel warmer.
We then had joiners make units to fit the bathroom, especially as we intend this bathroom to last as long as the last - nearly 40 years!
In late February I had been tempted to start planting seeds, many of my greenhouse over wintered plants were sprouting and the outside rhubarb was growing well. Boy am I glad I didn't we had 10 cm of snow last week and today we have snow again about 5 cm so far. Many of you will have had far more. I think it is worth waiting till after Easter this year before sowing anything.
We are however still getting eggs from the chickens and greens from the green house, Pak Choi and Chinese leaves.
