Our daily routine has started at 6 am with trying to dig the drive clear of snow to let my husband get away to work. This is only successful if the roads to his work are also clear this hasn't been the case on some days. Then once ot is daylight we open up the anilmal houses provide them with fresh water and food and then dig out all the paths we have needed to make to get round the garden. Usually getting the animlas sorted in a morning takes about 30 minutes, currently it can take up to 2 hours, however it does keep me fit.
In the middle of this we have got the two rabbits a friend , and housed them undercover in quarantine at present, away from the snow as well. Their house and run have literally disappeared under the snow so I will need to wait for a melt before I can let them out.
Last weekend we put up our Chritmas tree as it was the first Sunday in Advent. When we were putting up the three strings of lights I looked at their wattage. Between them they provided 160 lights and used 112W per hour. I has been in B&Q the previous week and they had LED Christmas lights which used much less. I had decided that I wasn't going to take the lights off the tree but would get some for next year. That was until I worked out that I sould put up a string of 120 lights and one of 80 ligts which would use 6 W per hour and within about 20 hours I would have saved the cost of the lights. I suspect over the Christmas period it will also save its carbon foot print, mind the danger is to leave tham on for longer as they use less electricity!
