The downside of pellets is though they flow a bit like water but they stack like a solid so the pellet store gets a dip in the centre and the augre can't draw any more pellets. The boiler then fails to ignite and the house is cold. You then have to switch it all off, sort the pellet store with a rake and then re prime the augre before re lighting. It works but takes half an hour or so to sort. Should have been off to pick up Turkeys today but heating took priority.
On the food front, the tomatoes are now finished ripening so the green ones are in the fridge to make chutney and the greenhouse is partly cleared and replanted. I have plunged a couple of pots of mint into the beds and a couple of kale from the outside beds. I'll put in winter greens and mustards to hopefully keep us going into the winter. The courgettes continue to flower though whether anything more will be produced this late on is doubtful. We do have lettuce and I planted my broad beans this week - in trenches lined with rose cuttings to keep the mice at bay.
While on holiday we had long discussions about cars. Ours needs replacing - it is falling apart but with what. What fuel do you use diesel or petrol/LPG. Currently in the UK LPG is a waste byproduct of the oil inductry so if we are using a fuel taken from the waste stream that is better than using petrol or diesel. I think! Tied into this is what are we going to be using next year to holiday in. A caravan, a folding camper or a trailer tent. All with different towing needs. Who knows.
The second weekend of the kids holiday we spent tidying the garage so we now have access to all the bikes as we need them and can put the car away - which is handy in cold weather.
