In contract his big sister had a fantastic time at camp - with 23 degree C temperatures while the rest of the country drowned in down pours. She took a little while to settle back into the mundane routine of family life.
The rest of the week has been spent in and out of the garden, between rain showers. We have mated the rabbits, ready for an early August delivery, moved the chickens back into the back garden, as they kept escaping from the front, cut some of the hedges, planted peas - yes planted out fourth sowing of peas as the slugs have eaten the rest oh and had a hive swarm.
This hive only requeened three or four weeks ago, and had no queen cells visible, but was full of lying bees, swarmed whilst I had a house full of guests. And unlike in the books it swarmed all the way up the greenhouse roof! I am delighted to say that we got it and put it in the new polystyrene hive with a queenless colony of black bees. We will have to wait and see if it stays there!
