This last couple of weeks has been quiet I think. We have replaced the woodchips in the back where the chooks are. We last did it in 2006 so the existing bark had composted down so much that it held water and was unpleasant to walk on. The chicken's runs were a mess even though we moved them regularly. It isn't a big job to do and makes such a difference I'm not sure why we didn't do it sooner.
Along side this we are looking to 2012. We have planted some winter salads to put out into the greenhouse later this month. The bees are wrapped up with feeders on. I am slowly tidying up all the growing beds ready for the spring, and feeding the fruit bushes. We have ordered a couple more apple trees and a mulberry tree to try. We have a small patio at the back door which until this last weekend was little more than a passageway it was so over grown. We have now cleared alot of the undergrowth revealing a fig tree - I thought it was dead - and planting area for probably three fruit bushes not sure what.
Inside the underfloor insulation isn't started. Partly beacause we have been using the livingroom to eat in and partly because I don't want to face the mess. However, this week, if the weather deteriorates I'll be off under the floors. If - as I hope - it stays bright and clear then I'll be out in the garden.
