So what are we doing this week in Central Scotland?
Well, we are clearing the bees out of the honey chamber (super) of the beehive, so we can temporarily remove it and treat them for a destructive mite that virtually all bees in the UK have called Varroa. We are using Apistan this year.
We have also been collecting eggs, beans - runner, salad, peas, raspberries, carrots and potatoes. I have been making ketchup and chutney with greengages we were given and we are waiting for the final ones to be ready for jam and we may try wine . You pick them green.
