The older tomato plants are in the greenhouse and looking fine. The eight I was given by a neighbour, thanks Tam, are now starting to really take off so the last of the over wintered salad will need to be eaten to make space for these tomatoes.
The second sowing of peas have also failed, I suspect eaten by mice despite the rose thorns. So I've gone back to my tried and tested method of growing them in gutters they seem to be coming along fine.
Earlier this week our local secondary school had a plant swap. My son and I went along with some friends and I managed to come home with a Sedum spectrabile and a scented geranium both of which can be used in food preparation. A great swap.
Now the finer weather has arrived the weeds have trully taken off. I have set aside two buckets for rabbit weeds and currently they a feasting on all the greens, saving waste and feed costs a win win situation.
I have planted a red and a white currant to complement my many blackcurrants and put mallows at the base - edible as salad as young leaves. I've taken some sedum cuttings which I'll put in as well as weed suppression and to ensure polyculture.
