This is a review of current research by Myung et all in the British Medical Journal, 2 February 2013, volume 346 page 12. The group looked at 50 research articles covering 294,478 people. They found that taking these supplements didn't decrease your risk of heart disease overall. The only trials that showed any decreases were those sponsored by pharmaceutical companies. There is a bit of concern about these types of trials in so far as it is felt, and in some cases has been shown, that not all research data is used in the final results meaning they are biased. The authors in no way say these papers were bias but do raise th e issue especially as they were the only papers to show change.
