Sheds
It is supposed to be men who have a shed in the garden to escape to. Our sheds are predomniantly mine though I do allow my husband to help clean the chickens out! Our sheds have all had a previous life.
The Hut

This was kindly given to us by a lady who was moving into sheltered housing and no longer had a garden. My husband and her nephew took it to pieces, put it in the back of a van and rebuilt it. It then needed the roof refelted, painted and fitted out with shelves and a work bench - all of which came from the waste wood section in Ikea. In it we store all our clean plant pots, the worksurface is supposed to be for planting but it tends to become a dumping ground. May be clearing it will be a 2011 job.
The Chicken House

This was the children's playhouse until they grew out of it. We then took it to bits, repainted it, added a pophole, run and roosting bars and the chooks love it. It takes more cleaning than the Eglus but it does the job.
We bought a small run to add to it, this improves security from predators and gives young birds a taste of freedom in safety. We have then needed to surround the area with chicken netting as the incumbent egg layers attack the meat chooks if they can get at them!
