Tights
Tights are very important in the female work place, especially un laddered ones. However, they are easily laddered which renders them useless for their original purpose. This doesn't mean that they can't be used for other purposes.
Plant ties
Tights cut across the legs into thin ties can be used to hold plants to supports. They only last one year and then the nylon degrades and hardens, which can damage a perenial plant. However, for holding up annuals such as tomatoes they are great.
Straining wax
When straining wax tights are ideal. The inital straining of dirty wax can be through the thicker gusset, then further strainings can be through several layers of the finer leg material.
Draught excluders
Tight legs are an ideal diameter and length to make draught excluders. We generally use two legs, one stuffed inside the other for strength. The actually stuffing can be anything from from old rags, to sheeps wool or bought stuffing.
Once stuffed they can be decorated with old buttons, ties or anything you want.We also use these in our folding camper as they flexibly fit into corners cutting down the draughts.
